Hospital spends $300,000 to transplant a massive, 100-year-old sequoia to a new home

A large sequoia tree with a history rooted in conservation was standing in the way of progress, so on Sunday, June 25, 2017, it was moved. More than a century after it was planted as a sapling in a doctor’s yard in Boise, Idaho, the 10-story tree was shifted across the street to make way for a hospital expansion.

Prichard Colón is in a vegetative state, the result of a 1.5-centimeter brain bleed that gushed in the left side of his head during a boxing match at Fairfax, Virginia’s EagleBank Arena on Oct. 17, 2015. He entered the bout against Terrel Williams undefeated. He departed with his first loss, dizzy and weary, his arm slumped over his mother, his vitality sapping with each step he took to the dressing room, where he collapsed and lost consciousness as vomit streamed from his nose and mouth.

This aerial view of the north fork of the Kings River shows it flowing out of Wishon Dam. The video was taken by the owner of Wishon Village RV Park, Kris Oneida. He says it was the first time since 2011 that water flowed down this path. He has more video on his Facebook page @Wishonvillage.
